Normally we do “market research that plants trees” with GreenAdz. What our role model, the search engine Ecosia, achieves with “search that plants trees”, we do with what we can – market research: we always incentivize every participant in our online surveys with a tree donation as a thank you. At €1 per respondent, this costs significantly less than most people think, but not only results in better participation rates and in-depth insights, but above all brings lasting joy, as you can see from the many positive reactions. Our €1 trees as a marketing incentive
At the end of 2017, we came up with the idea of sharing this joy with other companies and people for the first time, independently of market research: Simple, uncomplicated and with a “good feeling”, anyone – whether private individual or company – can participate in our tree project in Zambia and plant trees as marketing incentive in our GreenAdz forest. For a flat rate of just one euro net per tree, you can ensure that our GreenAdz forest grows with every seedling and not only leaves your customers with a positive feeling, but also sends a positive signal against climate change: Each tree offsets an average of 6kg of CO2 per year, great, right?
Our annual #trees-instead-of-Christmas-cards-campaign:
We have been saving ourselves the trouble of printing Christmas cards for years, because instead we give electronic Christmas greetings paired with a tree for each of our customers. Not only is this more climate-friendly, but at one euro per tree it’s even cheaper than a card plus postage. And because we think this idea is so ingenious, we launched the tree-instead card campaign for the first time in 2017 and over the years have found many companies that follow the idea and have also been sending their Christmas greetings in the form of our €1 trees ever since.
Trees instead of Christmas cards are well received – for example, a business customer got in touch shortly before Christmas and ordered another 150 trees because the response from her customers to the green Christmas email with tree donation was so positive.
We are all the more pleased that tree planting is very much in vogue, and we hope to convince many other companies to give trees instead of Christmas cards this year. Just as our respondents and our customers’ customers are happy about ‘their’ little tree in Zambia, your customers will be just as happy about a tree gift – whether it’s a single tree or an entire forest, we promise!

Trees as a marketing incentive: #Trees4Leads
In addition to our “#Trees4Christmascards” campaign at Christmas, the trees are now used as a marketing tool at various levels – actually as a thank you for every marketing campaign that is worth at least €1: e.g.
- for customer-refer-a-friend or referral programs
- for a product sold in an online store, as with our customer, the fashion retailer Scandic-Fashion
- for the use of a service as with our customer Expatlauncher.com
- as a thank you for an address or e-mail registration, i.e. to increase newsletter subscriptions or address quality
- as a thank you for a Google rating, an Amazon review or other reviews

We call the use of trees as an incentive for any marketing measure and to increase marketing goals “Trees4Leads” for short. And the ideas and examples of using trees as incentives are so diverse.
Increase in online orders and customer satisfaction thanks to tree donation

Green Friday as an alternative to Black Friday: the fashion retailer Scandic-Fashion has distanced itself from the widespread practice of producing low-quality items especially for Black Friday. Instead, they plant a tree with GreenAdz for every order during Green November. 😍🌳
Reduction in the returns rate thanks to tree donation
One idea that fits in very well with the green, sustainable idea of tree incentivization alongside Green Friday is the idea of reducing the returns rate through this small incentive – à la “For every unused returns label, we plant a tree!”
For one euro per tree, this approach is certainly worth a test and pays off not only for the environment, but also for you.
Increase number of ratings and reviews thanks to tree donation
The idea of thanking people not only by participating in a survey, but also by writing a Google review or a Trustpilot review with a tree donation is obvious. Providers such as “ReviewForest – plant trees to get more reviews.” bring customers and tree-planting organizations into contact with their software solution. However, with our €1 net per tree, we are significantly cheaper than the trees in im ReviewForest’s model.
This is because we do not “graft” our trees with such a service, but simply use the connection we have with our cooperation partner weforest. Simply to plant as many trees as possible. And simply because we can’t plant as many trees in our GreenAdz forest as we would like with market research alone.
More newsletter subscribers thanks to tree donation
Are you frustrated because the number of your newsletter subscribers is decreasing rather than increasing? Are you tired of using false incentives such as discounts to attract only bargain hunters and voucher junkies to your offers? Who then leave immediately after the first order?
